“My name is Katie, and I have been in the Hope for Women program for about six months. In November of 2018 I was in a very dark place in my life. All I really cared about was getting high, and I got myself into some trouble and ended up in Merced County Jail in December. I was terrified, and for the first time in my life I opened the Bible and started reading in the book of Matthew.
I started praying every day for God to help me out of the mess I was in. In March of 2019, God answered my prayers, and I went to court waiting to get accepted into a Salvation Army program and was excited to find out that there was a bed open at the Hope for Women house at the Rescue Mission. After being interviewed by Pastor Bruce, I was accepted into the Mission and released that day from jail. Since being in the program, I have grown a lot in my relationship with God, knowledge of the Bible, and my recovery. I now have a job, a car, and a relationship with my daughter. God is good all the time!”
