What is #GivingTuesday?

#GivingTuesday is a global giving movement built by individuals and communities in the US and in countries around the world. On #GivingTuesday, millions of people come together to support and champion the causes they believe in by donating and fundraising on their behalf.  Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

Why did we join the #GivingTuesday movement?

We joined the #GivingTuesday movement to give people in the Merced community an opportunity to help those in need. The Merced County Rescue Mission has a variety of programs and serves those who are homeless and in need, those who have been incarcerated or have been imprisoned by their own addictions.  Merced County Rescue Mission strives to help people with the basic necessities while also giving them an opportunity to improve their station in life. Merced County Rescue Mission is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization and we are a member of the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions.
